SIMCHAT TORAH – REJOICING OVER GOD’S WORD

In Israel, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are both celebrated on Tishri 22. Outside of Israel in the Diaspora, Shemini Atzeret is observed on Tishri 22 while Simchat Torah is followed on Tishri 23. If you live outside of Israel and celebrate Biblical Feasts, Simchat Torah is today.

Following the joyous seven days of the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), God’s people continue to rejoice on the happy holiday of Simchat Torah, which marks the joyous milestone of completing and immediately beginning the annual Torah (first five books of the Bible) reading cycle. Simchat Torah is a SAMECH (ס) circular cycle where the end of something is intertwined in its beginning and vice versa. The Hebrew sages say that the Hebrew Living™ Letter SAMECH (ס) represents the endless and ever-ascending spiral of God’s glory in the universe, which in this case is the infinite and glorious Word of God.

Simchat Torah can be translated as the “rejoicing over the Word of God.” Traditionally, our Jewish brethren have marked Simchat Torah with dancing, followed by seven circuits known as the hakafot (circles), as the Torah scrolls are closed and wrapped in velvet while they are held aloft. The joyous climax of Simchat Torah is the dancing of the circles, during which God’s people dance and sing with the Word of God.

In this Kingdom Day, Simchat Torah is all about reinstituting the pureness of The Word through God eradicating erroneous teaching according to His Spirit and Truth. The trees clap their hands when the essence of the pure Word of God is taught and performed. It flows with life, like a stream of crystal-clear living water:

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. 12 For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands” (Isaiah 55:10-12).

Let us all rejoice and dance for His Word shall accomplish His glorious goodness!

Give em heaven!!!
