Yeshua tells us that the first “abomination of desolation” who sat in the Temple is a prophetic foreshadow of an even greater abomination that confronts us in the last days. The first “abomination of desolation” was Hanukkah’s Antichrist – Antiochus Epiphanes IV. “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand) … For then there will be great tribulation, such as not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:15,21).
The true-life story of the martyrdom of Chana and her sons gives us unique insight into the first “abomination of desolation,” which can prepare us for the greater tribulation in these end days. Before Chana and her seven sons arrived as the focal point of the Hanukkah Antichrist’s persecution, Antiochus IV instituted very harsh programs in his earthly kingdom, which were the antithesis of anything holy or godly. He commanded: “Whoever will acquiesce to my command, bow to my image, eat pig’s meat, and reject the religion of Moses’ Torah will live; whoever refuses shall be killed without pity.” This caused every devout believer to be at odds with the government that had power over them.
Hanukkah’s Antichrist turned around from going home to participate in Chana and her seven sons execution of his ruthless decrees. He arrogantly took personal pleasure from his power that could take human lives. He was a serial killer, appearing to revel in death as long as he won. The Hanukkah’s Antichrist’s value of human life seems to be only in them doing his evil will. Me… me… me… The Hanukkah Antichrist was all about “me.”
Recall from the HANUKKAH HEROINE CHANAH & HER SEVEN SONS article (see below), that King Antiochus IV used flattery and bribery to try and reason with Chanah’s eldest son, which didn’t work. When Chanah’s first son basically told the Antichrist why do you trouble us with your abominable religions, we are ready to ascend to the Lord for the sake of God and His Word, dispatch us quickly to YHVH, kill us, the Hanukkah Antichrist flew into a rage because he did not get his own way. Then, he ordered one of the most gruesome deaths that shook even his own nobles.
The same gruesome torture and murder were used on each of Chana’s seven sons after they denied the Hanukkah Antichrist the homage. The next Hanukkah Antichrist tactic was having his reeling nobles plead with Chana’s second son. This is a form of social pressure. Because they were so disturbed, the Antichrist’s own nobles cried out: “We beseech you – obey the king’s directive! Why must you die with great suffering as your brother died?” These sell-outs only saw value in saving their lives on earth.
The Hanukkah Antichrist changed his tactic with Chana’s final and seventh son who was only a 7-year-old. To try to save face, King Antiochus promised this brave little boy that he would be the king’s viceroy, reigning over the Antichrist’s entire kingdom with wealth beyond imagination, if only this he would do the Antichrist’s will. The boy saw through the vain promises telling Antiochus that he was foolish because no one knows what tomorrow brings.
King Antiochus then threatened the 7-year-old with various tortures (many he just witnessed with his brothers). When Chanah’s seventh son retorts: “Hurry – do as you have said. Do not delay. God has made my journey successful, so let me embark upon it,” Antiochus was amazed. He then summoned the boy’s devastated mom to persuade her only remaining son to do the Antichrist’s will. Note that if the Antichrist can’t win you over directly, he will try to manipulate your will and emotions through those closest to you.
Chana used her remaining time with her youngest son to encourage him to be strong in the faith and stand for the Most High God. When Chana and her son returned to the king, she told the Hanukkah Antichrist that he won’t comply. Whereupon King Antiochus tells the little boy: “Woe, O you silly child! Why do you not take my advice and do my will and not die?” Once again with the Antichrist, it comes down to doing his will (or your own will) because the Kingdom of Self and the Satanic Kingdom are one and the same.
Hopefully, we all count the cost beforehand. Hopefully, we hold fast to God and His Word, being lovers of truth. Hopefully, we are in the space of not my will, Father, but Yours be done.
