It is increasingly important to encourage oneself in the Lord. Everyone is being stretched-to-the-limit in these trying times, and I sense one of the most necessary commodities that we need is hope. The hope that doesn’t disappoint.
Romans 5 speaks about refining in difficult times as well as the hope that comes from God’s endless love: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:1-5).
This passage is a keeper. Not only does it display the reassurance of peace with God through Messiah Yeshua where we can rejoice in hope of the glory of God, but also it shows us the path and way of glory in great trouble and suffering.
As we plod or plough through various times of distress and suffering, we can remind ourselves. Okay. Acts 14:22 tells me that my soul is strengthened, as I continue in faith through many tribulations, so I can enter the Kingdom of God. These tribulations produce a perseverance in me. As I persist in spite of opposition and discouragement, the rock-solid character of Christ is formed in me as I focus on Him and His ways, which produces hope that doesn’t disappoint due His endless love and eternal life.
Am I the only one thinking without the Lord… without His strength, protection, salvation… we are sunk? We won’t make it. The good news of coming to this realization is that it is the ultimate truth. We are always dependent on the One who enables everyone to live and move and have our being. Therefore, let us all proclaim: O my soul, hope in the Lord!
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’ ” (Lamentations 3:22-24 NKJV).
Give em heaven!!!
