We are instructed to “be careful for nothing” because nothing is the good portion we ask of the Heavenly Father in Yeshua’s Name where the peace of God that surpasses all understanding resides.
“4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in Me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you” (Philippians 4:4-9).
When we ask for nothing in Yeshua’s Name according to the perfect will of the Father, we receive it and our joy is made full (John 5:19): “Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. 23 ‘And in that day you will ASK ME NOTHING. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have ASKED NOTHING IN MY NAME. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:22-24).
Always remember that nothing is a heavenly gift and this is what we must be careful for: “John answered and said, ‘A man can RECEIVE NOTHING unless it has been given to him from heaven’” (John 3:27).
