We have crossed over into a new space and place that features the holy and reverential presence of God where the Lord is rectifying His testimony among His people. Ministers of the gospel are being held to a greater accountability on how they represent Him. I am seeing some of God’s representatives who have been misrepresenting Him sick and dying.
There is a warning given about communion – common union – that may overlook: “ 27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep [are dead]. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world” (1 Corinthians 11:27-32 NKJV).
Not properly discerning the Lord’s body includes misrepresenting Him through lying or exaggerating what you have seen in the Spirit. When people in the Body of Christ lack discernment believing lies or falsehood, they are sowing to their fleshly, carnal nature. So, not only are the ministers who are sowing lies accountable; but so are the people who receive them Of course, the greater judgment is reserved for the leaders who are building a kingdom unto themselves, all the while saying that they are building the kingdoms of God.
I am seeing a parallel to Acts 5, which I am calling an “Ananias and Sapphira Moment.” Ananias and Sapphira sold one of their possessions and kept back part of the proceeds while pretending to give it all. The key to Ananias falling dead on the spot was when Peter confronted him: “While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God” (Acts 5:4).
They lied about giving it all when they didn’t. How do we know this? Simply turn back the page: “ 32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need” (Acts 4:32-35).
Three hours later, once great fear came on everyone who witnessed what happened to Ananias, Sapphira was brought in separately without knowing what happened to her husband. Peter confronted her. The exchange went like this: “ ‘Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?’ She said, ‘Yes, for so much.’ 9 Then Peter said to her, ‘How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.’ 10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11 So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things” (Acts 5:8-11).
No longer is God overlooking lying, cheating, stealing, greed, promiscuity, witchcraft, idolatry, shedding of innocent blood, vain imaginations, selfish ambition in building one’s own kingdom, etc.
If you find yourself sick or dying, the antidote may be admitting the truth through repentance: “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death” (1 Corinthians 7:10).
Leaders, if you misrepresented or lied to God’s people in a public setting, don’t be surprised if the Lord requires you to repent publicly. Seek the perfect will of the Father; because your life may depend on it.
Behold, our Ananias and Sapphira Moment is here for the Body of Christ. God Himself is cleaning His House. He is preparing His sanctuary – His people – for the holy reverential fear and power of His Presence. Behold, the holy and reverential fear and power of God!
Give em heaven!!!
